Immediate steps when your engine overheats
Turn off the air conditioning and turn the heater to maximum. Pull over safely and turn off the engine. Do NOT open the bonnet immediately — wait at least 15–20 minutes for pressure to subside.
Common causes of overheating
Low coolant level, faulty water pump, stuck thermostat, blocked radiator or a blown head gasket.
